Purpose and Role

About the Lincoln County LEPC

The Lincoln County Local Emergency Planning Committee is established under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, commonly referred to as EPCRA or SARA Title III. Its mission is to coordinate hazardous materials planning and improve the whole community's ability to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from hazardous materials emergencies.

The LEPC maintains and updates local emergency response plans, reviews facility chemical submissions such as Tier II reports, supports training and exercises, and promotes coordination among industry, emergency responders, healthcare providers, schools, utilities, nongovernmental organizations, local governments, and the public.

This cooperative planning process strengthens responder safety, public protective actions, emergency communications, evacuation and sheltering coordination, continuity of essential services, and the overall resilience of Lincoln County.
